Treatments for “The Winter Crud”

People in my neck of the woods have been battling “The Crud” for months now and it seems to be picking up in severity.  “The Crud” is a never ending cycle of  upper respiratory illness causing runny nose, severe congestion, and cough.  Or the other thing going around is GI virus causing severe nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.  These illnesses seem to be inescapable afflicting young, healthy, and elderly individuals alike.  Cases of influenza have even picked up recently.

Prescription medications I’ve seen come through the pharmacy for “The Crud” include for :
Tamiflu (oseltamivir) for influenza.  available as a generic now but still quite pricey and in my professional opinion not worth the 1 day it shortens flu symptom duration, at least for healthy adults.  And that’s only if it’s prescribed within the first 48 hours of flu symptom onset.
Prednisone for individuals with respiratory distress.  Check the prices at Blink Health to see if it’s cheaper than your insurance.  IT PROBABLY IS!

Cough syrups: Phenergan with codeine and Guaifenasin with codeine.  Both are very inexpensive or Free with my Exclusive offer with Blink Health.

Albuterol inhalers: Proair and Ventolin.  Ventolin is only about $41 after using my Exclusive offer at Blink Health. Great savings if you have a deductible or are uninsured. Proair is about $50 after the discount offer.
Flonase – $9.97 at Blink Health or Free with my exclusive offer.
Antibiotics: Adults: doxycycline, Zithromax (azithromycin), Bactrim DS, and Levaquin (levofloxacin).  All super cheap or Free after my exclusive offer at Blink Health
Kids: Azithromycin, Cephalexin, Amoxicillin, and Cefdinir.
Ear infections secondary to “The Crud”: Ciprodex (copay card available here), ofloxacin otic, Polysporin Otic, and the above antibiotics

Anti-nausea and vomiting medications: Promethazine, meclizine (available via prescription or OTC but they are the same), and Zofran (ondansetron).  All super cheap or Free after my exclusive offer at Blink Health

All prices reflecting my $15 off first fill with Blink Health are reflected in the cart.
